Kashmir handicrafts are world famous and include vibrant hand-made crafts, which symbolize the cultural significance of Kashmir.

Popular handicrafts include items like carpets (woven with wool or silk yarns), baskets, wooden carvings, and shawls. Kashmir carpet design has influence from Persia. Most of the shawls are made of three fibers: wool, Pashmina and Shahtoosh. Wood Carving is the best-known craft, and the primary wood used for this craft is walnut and chinar wood of Kashmir.

Papier mache is another very old form of handicrafts in Kashmir. The original art of papier mache, which uses original gold painted items are quite expensive. However, there are replicas made at affordable prices using pulp of paper and adhesive.
